The easy DIY wedding projects seen in this post are unique and easy to do – shoe embellishments, cardboard fans, and an alter just to name a few!
Taylor and Shawna’s wedding is a feast for the eyes, and Janae Hardy captured everything perfectly.
Shawna made these darling shoe embellishments! She cut out circles of yellow fabric and clustered them into rosettes, which she then sewed on to her shoes.
Shawna collected the bottles that they used as vases. She even got a bunch of free chemistry jars that the university was giving away!
Shawna made the cardboard fan programs. She had them printed, cut the rounded corners, glued them onto craft sticks, then added blue hearts cut from vintage fabric!
The altar was another DIY project. Taylor and Shawna found an antique window and painted it cream. They used two-by-fours dug into the ground as supports and hung the window from a rope.
We are so in love with Shawna’s braided hairstyle and her gorgeous bouquet by Town and Country Flowers, which was a mix of hydrangea, Sahara roses, yellow freesia, and wildflowers.
They hung embroidery hoops from the tent to add some color. Shawna had filled them with pretty fabric ahead of time. What a fabulous decor idea!
For drinks, they had root beer floats! The personalized mugs were ordered from discountmugs.com, and were take-home favors for guests.
The cake was from Beth’s Bake Shoppe and Tea Room. It looks divine!
Shawna made her hair clip from an antique pin. She sewed lace and tulle to the back of it and reinforced it with feathers. It was a personalized piece as well as her “something old.”

So lovely to see this kind of hairstyle. I’m in pre-wedding planning mode, and finding inspiration this previous for braided wedding hair is few and far between.
