Wedding Story & Gallery

– Remona (hair & make up artist) is a close family friend and has been part of Shireen’s life growing up. Remona mentioned how much it meant to be part of her day.

-Their first look (which the bride’s dad drove Shireen to in his vintage car) is truly one of a kind! Shireen and Ryan chose to have their first look portraits in a totally different, not to mention unique place! They did their first look at Dominion Lighting in Arlington, Virginia! They wanted something that was super different from the park where their ceremony was held with a whimsical feel that let us get creative. We loved shooting in this lighting store and getting creative with all of the reflected lights!

2. Couple’s unique story + Location/Venue Details:

-There are some couples who I feel I am part of (or at least a witness to) their full journey. Shireen and Ryan are one of those special couples. After two postponements due to 2020 restrictions, they decided to elope on the anniversary of their very first date. This was followed by a vow renewal on the same day a year later in the spot where they eloped.

-Shireen and Ryan then stood under the gazebo for a second time at Frady Park in Falls Church, Virginia. These two were so ready to renew their vows and celebrate, finally surrounded by friends and family. After some long-awaited family photos, we headed to 2941 Restaurant to party! Wander + Whimsy Floral worked their magic, transforming the space into a romantic, vibrant wonderland of beauty.

-Although it wasn’t their original vision, Shireen & Ryan were happy that they were finally able to celebrate with a postponed wedding day AND have a little piece of it that was just for them. They ended up getting the best of both worlds: an intimate, symbolic ceremony plus a large celebration with family and friends!

3. Ceremony Location/Color Palette:

-Shireen grew up in the City of Falls Church. Her parents’ home is right down the street from Frady Park. She used to walk their dog, Jasper, through the park all the time. Shireen always thought the park was beautiful and a hidden gem in her little city.

-Colorful, jewel tones

4. Tips/Advice for brides planning now: “At the end of the day, your wedding day is about you and your best friend/ future life partner. The cancellation of our wedding was a blessing in disguise. We didn’t have to worry about anyone else and we could focus on just us, our love, and our commitment to each other. You can have the always have a party later!”
