Thrift Friendly and DIY Wedding at Aubrey Hall

Printerest is a great tool, especially for putting wedding vision boards together. If you are as ambitious as this bride then you will take that Pinterest board and bring it to life by either DIYing or getting very acquainted with your local thrift stores for a couple months to see what they have.  Today’s beautiful bride had a vision for her DIY wedding at Aubrey Hall that was spectacular!

“For those who don’t feel comfortable crafting, remember all those sweet friends and family who constantly tell you they are more than happy to help with anything. I had countless people offering their help and let’s be honest, planning a wedding is a tough job. Don’t go it alone if you don’t have to!”

Top advice

1. CHOOSE A GOOD SEAMSTRESS. I can’t tell you how big of a nightmare my FIRST seamstress was. I spent way too much money for this woman to cheat her way through altering my dress. I went to a dozen fittings to finally demand my dress and money back. I got the dress but very little money. My saving grace was Shelly Price out of Bossier, LA. She is a miracle worker. She is everything a seamstress should be.

2. TAKE THE ADVICE OF OTHERS SERIOUSLY AND WITH A GRAIN OF SALT. You will crave all the advice that friends, family and the Internet will have to offer. Some will work, some won’t, and some you will have heard a million times and if you hear it one more time you will scream. The truest of all the advice is to let it all go once the BIG DAY arrives. The most important thing is the union of you and your sweetheart and celebrating said union.

3. RELAX. BE GRACIOUS. HAVE FUN. It’s pretty self-explanatory. It can be an overwhelming day, so try to set the tone for yourself early on. Take a deep breathe and smile, drink the champagne, hug and kiss everyone you can, thank them for their love and support, and go dance your booty off! After all, it really is you and your better half’s day, so enjoy it.

1. Brass candleholders. Goodwill for .99 or 1.99. You cannot beat that!

Bride’s favorite part of the day

My favorite part had to of been the ceremony. I wanted so badly for this part to be intimate, super relaxed for our guests, and personal. Walking down the aisle I was very nervous, but seeing all of our family and friends helped ease my nerves. Our officiant gave us free reign for the ceremony, so we kept it traditional for the most part, but when it came down to exchanging our rings we wanted it to be very personal. It was our chance to promise each other what is most important in our hearts and for our future as husband and wife. We laughed and cried, his ring wouldn’t fit his swollen finger, I forgot what I was supposed to say and our guests felt like they were truly a part of something. It was perfectly imperfect.

Groom’s favorite part of the day

The first look was my favorite part. I didn’t know what to expect and Hannah blew my mind. She looked so pretty. I was so nervous and seeing her calmed me down and allowed me to be excited for what was to come.
