Wedding Story
Photographer’s Comments: “Delphine and David had the location for their wedding in mind immediately after David surprised Delphine with a beautiful pear shaped diamond engagement ring in front of their closest friends and family in the small town of McCloud CA. D + D have a deep connection with McCloud and wanted to bring everyone together for a wedding at a private ranch tucked beneath the trees.
“It was important to Delphine that they incorporated David’s country roots, so the groomsmen wore jeans and blazers with cowboy boots while the bridesmaid gowns tied into the navy and grey theme. We especially loved the understated elegance of the greenery and white florals which were also elements of the bouquets.
“The couple’s portraits are breathtaking in the meadow and tree lined scenery, and guests loved the fresh mountain air on the warm September day!”
Bridal Q & A
Q1: Tell us about your wedding!
“Our wedding day was absolutely magical. Being a wedding planner, it was really tough being able to think of my own wedding on top of our couple’s wedding days… but in the end I did it with the help of my amazing vendors! The inspiration was rooted from David and I’s relationship. Simple. We have simple taste, simple views, and our love is simple. I believe we managed to make our wedding day fit our relationship so well with greenery, and the gorgeous back drop of our venue.”
Q2: Let’s talk wedding decor
“As I previously mentioned, we wanted to keep things simple, but in a farm house way. From galvanized accents, to wooden frames, I wanted to make sure it felt warm and inviting.
“My amazing florist created the most beautiful bouquets that made me tear up, and provided incredible eucalyptus that spilled over our tables with candles and photos of David and I.
“We got married on a family ranch, called The Circle 7 ranch, so instead of building an arch, we used their really old ranch sign, added some hay bales underneath, put some greenery on the top, and called it good! There was history, and love put into that. My husband also made our ‘Welcome book’ which was a piece of wood slab that we are going to place behind our couch in our next home.”
Q3: What were the florals like in your wedding?
“I used minimal flowers. For my bouquet, I wanted a ton of white flowers. From white roses, lisianthus, to white carnations, I wanted my bouquet to explode! For the girls, there were a few white flowers with a ton of greenery. I loved how simple they looked against their grey and navy dresses. For the tables, there were two types of eucalyptus and white carnations. Without these touches, It would have been TOO simple!”
Q4: Did you personalize the day in any way?
“Everything was personalized. From the music we walked down to, to the dances we danced to. From the food, to the mini pies we tasted 1 year before the wedding day. Personally, my favorite part was walking down to see my handsome husband smiling at me. But also the dancing… We both never left the dance floor!”
Q5: Let’s talk fashion
“Navy and Grey are my absolute favorite colors. I wear them daily, and I think they give off a simple, farm house feel. Also, the girls looked incredible in them! They had the opportunity to choose their own style, and their favorite shade in the navy and grey color scheme. It looked AMAZING. For the guys, I went with a simple white shirt and navy vest and jeans. David wore a fabulous Zenga jacket with an awesome blue and grey paisley tie. On the bottom he wore a pair of silver label Cinch Jeans and his favorite cowboy boots! So handsome!”
Q6: How did you meet?
“It was a September day, 1 month into sitting in a class that I absolutely did not want to be in… and all of a sudden I started seeing this handsome cowboy come in the class at 8 AM sharp with his coffee in hand, and his terribly beaten up jeans. It took me 2 days before I decided to find him on Facebook.
“Keep in mind, I didn’t know his last name and really didn’t know anything about him, other than that he worked at a local feed store in town.
“When I got home on Friday after noticing him, I looked up his work’s Facebook page, found someone on there that looked young, looked in her friends list, and found him! Immediately, (because wasting time isn’t fun) I messaged him and told him how I felt. How I thought he was adorable and that I wanted to take him to lunch.
“After a few times of him saying no, I said you can’t say no, took him to lunch, and the rest is history!
“For the proposal, his grandpa passed away 5 years ago, and every year for the last 4 years, we go to a memorial roping for him. We stay the entire weekend in McCloud, and have a blast!
“Saturday after he got off work he kept telling me to look a little more presentable (because I usually just show up in jeans and a shirt) and instead, I still showed up in jeans and a shirt… oops.
“Little did I know, after the roping was over, he got on one knee in front of his family and friends in the local bar, and asked me to marry him. It was SO incredible. I thought it was fake! I wish we could re-live that day.
“It was perfect. We even made it in the local paper!”
Q7: What was the most anticipated or special moment of your wedding day?
“Seeing David was the most anticipated moment. I know that sounds cliche, but it was one of the most nerve-wracking experiences I have ever endured… Truly. He gets me giddy :-)”
Q8: Do you have any advice to share with other couples planning their day?
“Enjoy EVERY second, and don’t rush it. Every day since the wedding, I just want to re-do it!”
